Step by step

  1. First claim in writing from the airline. FOCA asks for the correspondence.
  2. If the answer is unsatisfactory or you get no answer within 6 weeks, fill in the FOCA online form. One form per person and flight, signed by you.
  3. Enclose a copy of an official ID, the booking confirmation and the correspondence with the airline.
  4. FOCA asks the airline for a statement and may open administrative criminal proceedings. It does not enforce payment for you, but a complaint often leads to payment.
  5. If the flight was more than a year ago, FOCA normally no longer opens sanction proceedings.

How it works

  1. Check for free: enter route, airline and what happened. The checker works out distance, amount and legal basis.
  2. Letter pack for CHF 9.90: a claim letter with the articles, amount and payment deadline as a PDF and as text for the airline's online form, plus a follow-up letter if the airline rejects or ignores you, and the documents for the free complaint to FOCA (BAZL). In English, German or French.
  3. Keep 100%: the airline pays straight into your account. No commission, no subscription.
